Best of 2023
Time flies and I can’t believe I am here again writing another ‘Best of’ post after another fantastic year. This time last year I had shot 50 weddings and moved to Cornwall. Oh, and we had another baby and invested in a working line German Shepherd pup. So 2022 was bloody mental and I am happy to say in 2023 we did not do any of the above things again!
I said on my best of 2022 post how excited I was for my business in 2023. It got even better than I ever expected. Shooting weddings all over the UK, a destination wedding in Kefalonia and even taking a booking for the USA (I still can’t believe this).
The photos will explain more than words about the weddings this year. I want to thank all my couples, their family and friends for making 2023 amazing. I love my job, but I still get very nervous and even a bit of anxiety for each wedding. It’s a daunting task entering a room of 150 people and you are a complete Billy no-mates, so everyone who has gone out of their way to make me feel welcomed, thank you so bloody much. You make my job that little bit easier and I hope I made you all feel comfortable. My intent is that you get to see how much passion I have for documentary wedding photography and that I do not stop moving looking for that next real moment with your loved ones.
Next year I get to shoot not one but two destination weddings. One of them, of all places is in Boston USA. The most surreal part of this story is that the couple live in Boston and found me through Google. It is a huge compliment to myself and my style of photography. I have also started taking bookings in Devon and Cornwall so hopefully less hotel stays that dent my wallet.
The Youtube channel is underway and hopefully by the end of November you will start seeing my face on a weekly basis. I won’t lie, it scares the s**t out of me and I really don’t want to be that cringey Youtuber. But, this is the next step for my business and I feel I can produce content that can help people. It has always been a goal for me to help others as I was helped early in my career, and hopefully I can do that. I’ll leave it at that and will be back to analyse everything in my best of 2024 post!
