Braintree Town Hall Wedding Photographer

Megan + Josh only booked me to be their Braintree Town Hall wedding photographer a few months before the day.

It was towards the end of 2021 and I’d pretty much prepared myself for December off.

Thank bloody hell I didn’t stick to that plan.

When Megan first messaged me, she explained that she and Josh had only met four months earlier.

Now, whenever couples enquire with me I normally ask them for an embarrassing fact. It’s a good way of breaking the ice and getting to know each other a little before we start talking weddings.

Megan + Josh’s answer wasn’t embarrassing in the slightest.

If you know, you know.

And they definitely knew.

A Braintree Town Hall Wedding

The plan was beautifully simple.

Get married at Braintree Town Hall, then head back to Megan’s parents’ house for drinks, food and a proper relaxed celebration with their closest family and friends.

These are exactly the sort of weddings I bloody love.

Nothing needs to be complicated. You don’t need 150 guests, ten hours of traditions or a timetable that requires its own project manager.

Megan + Josh just wanted to get married and spend the rest of the day having a laugh with the people they loved.

They also really didn’t want posed photographs.

Perfect.

My approach to unposed wedding photography is to give couples the space to actually enjoy their wedding rather than constantly stopping everything for photographs.

And even though I was only with Megan + Josh for a relatively short amount of time, there was still bloody loads to photograph.

Fish & Chips at a Wedding? Absolutely.

One of my favourite parts of the day was when the food arrived.

Not because I’m greedy.

Well… not just because I’m greedy.

Instead of a traditional wedding breakfast, Megan + Josh ordered a massive takeaway with fish & chips, pizzas and burgers.

I’d never seen that at a wedding before and absolutely loved it.

It fitted them perfectly — relaxed, informal and not particularly interested in doing something just because wedding tradition says they should.

That’s what documentary wedding photography is about for me.

Let people enjoy themselves and photograph what actually happens.

No forcing moments.

No recreating things for the camera.

Just real people having a bloody good time.

Looking for a Wedding Photographer in Braintree?

If you’re looking for a wedding photographer in Braintree and you’re planning something relaxed, informal and a little less traditional, I’d love to hear about it.

You don’t need to spend your wedding posing for photographs.

Get married. Eat the fish & chips. Drink the champagne. Hug your favourite people.

I’ll worry about the photos.
