Bude Family Photographer
Sometimes Instagram actually does something useful.
This lovely family were down in Bude on holiday from Doncaster when they found my work on Instagram. They loved the natural way I photograph people and got in touch for a family shoot at Sandymouth.
Exactly my kind of shoot.
Wind, Light and Sandymouth
Being a Bude family photographer means having some pretty ridiculous locations on my doorstep, and Sandymouth is right up there.
We were treated to some incredible light.
The wind?
Absolutely bloody mental.
But rather than fighting against it, we went with it. That’s the beauty of working in a documentary, candid and completely unposed way.
Let the kids be kids. Let everyone walk, laugh and mess around. I’ll worry about finding the light and making the photos.
It’s basically the same photojournalist approach I bring to weddings — I’m looking for genuine moments rather than trying to manufacture them.
Family Photos Without the Awkward Stuff
You don’t need matching outfits, forced smiles or everyone staring at the camera.
Give me a beach, some lovely light and a family being themselves.
That’s far more interesting.
And despite Sandymouth doing its best to blow us all back to Doncaster, we came away with some bloody amazing frames.
I’ll happily take more days like this as a Bude family photographer.
