I like being close to the action.

Not because I want to get in everyone’s way, but because I want your photographs to make you feel like you’re right back there.

I want to hear the jokes, feel the atmosphere and notice when something is about to happen.

That’s pretty difficult from 30 feet away with a massive zoom lens.

And I’m definitely not going to spend your wedding hiding in a bush.

I’ll talk to your guests. I’ll laugh with them. I’ll get involved.

By the end of the day, I hopefully feel less like the photographer and more like another guest who happens to have a camera.

When people are comfortable around me, they stop worrying about the camera.

Candid Wedding Photographer

I bloody love being a candid wedding photographer.

There’s something pretty special about photographing a moment that you didn’t even know happened.

Maybe it’s a look between your parents.

Your mate crying during the ceremony.

Your grandparents holding hands.

Or something completely ridiculous happening behind you while you’re busy talking to someone else.

Those are the photographs I keep moving for.

Documentary wedding photography is about telling the whole story — not just photographing the obvious bits.

So my advice for your wedding day is pretty simple.

Be yourselves.

Laugh. Hug people. Have another drink. Get on the dance floor.
