I can honestly say this will be the most unique blog I have ever written. Not many photographers can say they have been a wedding photographer at Chester Zoo but I now can. Abi + George booked me in 2022 after a zoom consultation and of course sharing our love for animals. The lovely couple donate money to Chester Zoo on a regular basis and weddings also contribute towards that.
Another big part of booking myself was down to my documentary style. Abi + George did not want any posed photos so instead, after the wedding we went for a 3 hour walk around the zoo. I was there just to document people enjoying the zoo and of course I got to enjoy this time also. Taking a step back it was also lovely to see other visitors clocking a bride walking around a zoo. I would imagine this was something they have never seen before so it was brilliant to capture their reactions.
The evening, as always, was amazing. I still struggle to see why lots of photographers shoot off after the first dance. You can capture the most raw moments in the evening so it’s a no brainer to me. I am always very well catered for so that’s always a bonus enjoying the evening food. But it’s the enjoyment of music and people watching that really keeps my adrenaline way up. I am one of those people that can be having a few minutes breather, but as soon as I see a unique moment about to happen I just throw myself back in the action. It is something I can’t help myself with but the results are always worth the effort in staying until midnight.
