HookHouse Farm Wedding Venue

Jude Photography

Plenty of wedding venues have the word farm in their name.

HookHouse Farm actually bloody is one.

Hidden away near the little Surrey village of Outwood, it’s a proper working farm with a beautiful old barn, loads of outdoor space and plenty of rustic character.

If you’re planning a HookHouse Farm wedding and want something relaxed, informal and a little different, it’s a cracking place to do it.

The main barn has exposed beams and loads of character, but you’re still free to put your own stamp on everything.

Rustic without feeling like somebody has ordered the entire wedding from Pinterest.

The Ceremony

Jude Photography

The ceremony takes place outside the main house — basically in the front garden.

And it suits the venue perfectly.

Forget rows of overly formal chairs. Think hay bales, tartan throws and your favourite people gathered around you on a working Surrey farm.

It’s relaxed, different and gives a HookHouse Farm wedding its own personality before you’ve even reached the barn.

The Grounds

Jude Photography

This is where HookHouse Farm gets properly fun from a photography point of view.

You’ve got a working farm, so expect tractors, pigs, cows and loads of little areas to explore.

For me, that doesn’t mean disappearing with you for a massive wedding photoshoot.

I’d much rather spend most of the day concentrating on documentary wedding photography and everything happening between you and your guests.

Then, when the light is looking good, we’ll have a quick wander around the farm, get some relaxed photos together and get you straight back to the party.

The Main Barn

The main barn is probably the star of the show.

Dating back to the 17th century, it’s retained loads of its original character and gives you a proper rustic setting for the wedding reception.

Exposed beams, long tables, your own decorations and room for everyone to eat, drink and eventually make questionable decisions on the dance floor.

Lovely.

It’s also one of the reasons HookHouse Farm wedding venue photos look so distinctive.

You’ve got the barn, the farm, the animals and the surrounding countryside all in one place.

Not many wedding venues give you a 17th-century barn, tractors and farm animals all in the same package.

HookHouse Farm does.

You can also put your own personality into the place rather than feeling like you’re having exactly the same wedding as everybody who came before you.

And that’s what I like about it.

Give me a relaxed venue, good people, a few drinks and plenty happening around me and I’m happy.

If you’re planning a wedding at HookHouse Farm wedding venue and want photographs that feel natural rather than spending half the day posing for them, get in touch and tell me what you’ve got planned.
