Hylands House Wedding Photographer
After 5 years I finally got the chance to be a wedding photographer at Hylands House. An Essex boy from birth, Hylands House was a place I visited often during the days of V festival. So, it was great to return and shoot the wedding of Bex + Kish. The day started at Medway Towns Gurdwara for the traditional Sikh wedding. This was such a different style of wedding that I’m used to, but I thrived on the challenge. Everything from the start time, the length and of course the stunning colours of clothing. It really was amazing and as a documentary photographer I loved the story telling aspect that I could achieve through photos.
Hylands Park was the final destination for a good 200 people. I absolutely loved the traditional Indian food and music, the latter of which resulted in a full dance floor. Not one moment in the night did the dance floor empty. I actually love a full dance floor. Some people may find it intimidating but I find it helps so much. For instance, I can remain discreet in the crowd benefitting my documentary style. Secondly, I love the aspect of filling the frame with subjects in the foreground. People do not even notice you so just get right in the middle and have fun.
Thank you Bet + Kish for letting me document your very special day at Hylands House. The fact you gave me my first opportunity to document a Sikh style wedding, I will always be very grateful. Wishing you both all the best for the future.
