Well hello there. My name is Gary (not Jude) and I am a natural wedding photographer that covers Cornwall, Devon & the UK. Destination weddings are also something I tend to do (when the wife lets me anyway)
The love for natural wedding photography all started from street photography. Traveling the world is a big part of my life. So to capture people of a different culture in a candid way that tells their story was so moving.
So, I thought why not have a crack at weddings. Just being myself has helped to connect with people who share the same values in life. This is so important for capturing natural photos. You (as the client) need to feel like I am just another wedding guest. Someone you would go down the pub with (not that I am an alcoholic by the way)
Weddings should be all about the fun. Simple. Of course, there will be tears along the way with emotional feelings. But above all, it’s about both of you enjoying every second with no directions from me.
Approaching all my weddings as a natural wedding photographer this is always achieved. The feeling of posing you all just makes me cringe. Look back at your wedding day with nothing but real smiles. Remembering on what you did and not the photographers directions.
Don’t worry, I still love to take couple photos. But I like to label it couple time instead of couple portraits. Using the term wedding couple portraits usually makes people think cringe, posing, cheesiness. Well, this is not the case.
Couple time photos with me are all about you both getting away to catch up. Weddings can get very busy and you often find yourself not actually chatting to your newly wed. Use this time to chat, talk about the fun things that have happened. Natural wedding photos will then be captured without me directing to place hands in a heart shape!
You will not see me shooting off after the first dance. Your night does not end here so why would I go? This is the perfect time to capture so many natural, candid moments on a packed dance floor. Your guests play such an important part of your day so they need evidence of them a bit drunk.
You will all see me as another guest or even family due to my unobtrusive approach. This helps me get in close and capture all the real moments. Mums usually love me so it’s a win win for me.
Nothing beats capturing a real, natural, unposed wedding photo. Of course, you still want a few formals with your parents and grandparents. But, the real wedding photos are the photos that tell us a story. As a viewer, I want to see love, fun and emotion that explains your family history. All through a simple photo.
