What a bloody wedding.

Jessy + Sam’s White Rocks Kefalonia wedding was an absolute beauty. White Rocks Hotel sits in Lassi on the Greek island of Kefalonia, surrounded by those incredible green mountains and ridiculous blue water.

This was my first time back in Kefalonia for 23 years, so when Jessy + Sam asked me to be their White Rocks Hotel photographer, I didn’t need much convincing.

I also took the opportunity to stay a little longer with the family.

I mean, it would have been rude not to.

The day before the wedding, I met Jessy + Sam for a pre-wedding shoot around Kefalonia.

We headed over to De Bosset Bridge and I immediately started getting serious La La Land vibes while framing the photos.

You’ll see what I mean below.

This is one of the things I love about working as a destination wedding photographer. I’m not interested in simply flying in, photographing the wedding and disappearing again.

The days around the wedding are part of the story too.

Then came the wedding at White Rocks Hotel itself.

Jessy + Sam were surrounded by the loveliest bunch of family and friends, which made my job ridiculously easy. I could just get amongst everyone and photograph the hugs, laughter, tears and all the little bits of chaos happening around them.

That’s exactly what I love about documentary wedding photography.

For their couple photos, we headed back to De Bosset Bridge and also visited Saint Theodore Lighthouse.

Both are incredible spots, but I’m still not interested in turning your wedding into a two-hour photoshoot.

A little bit of time together, some bloody beautiful Kefalonia scenery and then back to the party.

And what a party it was.

As always, I stayed until the very end.

2:30am on this occasion.

A room full of Welsh people partying hard, a few cheeky tequilas with Jessy + Sam and absolutely no reason whatsoever for me to pack the cameras away early.

The later it gets, the more people forget about the camera.

And that’s when some of my favourite photographs happen.

Jessy + Sam, thank you for trusting me to photograph your White Rocks Kefalonia wedding.

You made me feel like part of the family from the moment I arrived, and I’ll always look back at this wedding with a massive smile.

I also got to swim with a turtle in the wild for the first time in my life.

So really, that’s a double thank you.
